Kurzweil
One of the best examples I can think of for using technology to overcome an obstacle in my learning is using Kurzweil for reading. Reading for the longest time has been slow and effortful for me, with retention being just as weak. Due to these challenges and the obstacles it presented to my learning, I was encouraged to try using Kurzweil. This reading software reads to the user and offers multiple tools for note taking, highlighting, voice options, and manipulating the text to make it easier to read. Taking the suggestion, I got Kurzweil and got digital copies of my readings to upload to Kurzweil, and it sure was a great asset to my learning. Having Kurzweil read aloud to me gave me, that was one task off the table and I just had to listen take notes and highlight the main points all doable within Kurzweil. Kurzweil made getting through reading assignments a lot easier and in much less time, allowing for more flexibility with my time.
